One Fall Day

Cannot believe this weekend will be a year since our wedding day. It's been a great first year. Everyone says the first year is the worst. If that's the case, I think we're golden. That being said, marriage really shows you (a little too often) how selfish, greedy and sinful you are. Or maybe that's just me...

I'm so thankful that Matt loves me, forgives me and is walking through life with me.

It occoured to me I never put wedding pictures up. So, for the 3 people that are interested, here are a few of my favorites from the day.

They Say It's Your Birthday

You only turn 30 once, so we started Matt's celebration a few days early at happy hour with a few friends. Nothing numbs the pain of getting older like draft beer, cheese fries and wings. We have officially reached the age where we hope we get carded. Deep sigh.

Friday Matt opened gifts from me and Namath. It's really stressful laying around all day while someone pays your bills. So much so, this dog needed a drink.

Birthday breakfast at Bojangles. Almost as fun to say as it is to eat. If you haven't ventured to Bojangles yet, I don't know what you're waiting for.

I think he knew he wasnt getting any, and was mad we woke him up for the field trip.

Cajun chicken biscuit. Major.

Probably would look more appetizing if I took the time to take it out of the wrapper and put it on the plate.

Lots of good food, good friends and family and an Alabama victory to ease MS into his 30th year. MS, you are very loved and I'm so glad I got to eat our way through the weekend together!

Half Way There...

Before heading to Tuscaloosa Saturday, we headed out for our long run - 15 miles this week. Over half the distance of the full and the longest we've ever run. Maybe running all these hills will make me as toned as this guy.

It was a perfect fall day. We ran all over this city. I did some house hunting. What a relief to get that out of the way. MS and I will draw straws to see who has to go to medical school.

Should have known when I saw this guy at the start it would be a good day. I assume it's a bulldog? I think I need it. For my new yard, featured above.

Done. And looking pretty worse for the wear.

Dressing for the scorching summer heat is easy. Wear as few clothes as possible. When it gets cool, things get a little trickier. Rule of thumb is to be cold when you walk out the door, or dress like its 20 degrees warmer. I don't like being cold, so I usually end up overdressed. The fleece vest was too much. Takeaway: follow the rules.

All Roads Lead to November 5

Saturday we headed down to Tuscaloosa, because Tennessee is a BIG game. At least it was back in my college days. Past the 2nd quarter it was painful to watch. Well, painful if you were wearing orange - but that's always painful.

There were margaritas, fajitas and some of my favorite people.

I think MS was keeping one eye on the AU/LSU game.

Leigh Anne brought a Tennessee fan. I cropped out his orange pants.

We had to go get a yellowhammer - we hadn't had one all season. I think it was good luck.

The twins brother was there with his precious little girl. We didn't take her to Gallette's.

Meredith and I got asked if we were twins. Brought back some memories.

Bye weekend this week - and then all season has led to November 5. I hear LSU was chanting "We want Bama!" after they took care of business with Auburn.

There's nothing like SEC football.

Everyday Favorite

Happy Birthday to MS! He can celebrate with the best of 'em.

My post from last year still rings true. Plus about 30 more.

Thinking about how far you've come since the day we met makes me so proud. Yet you still hold all the same characteristics I fell in love with.

Guess that's my way of saying you've only gotten better with time - like wine. We all know how much I like wine.

Thanks for being you - and bringing so much joy to our family!

Even if the furry one doesn't always seem so joyful.

We love you and can't wait to celebrate with you! Happy Birthday!

Sunday Funday

It was a gorgeous day downtown yesterday, and I would have felt way too guilty if we hadn't got out, so we went on a stroll down towards the North side.

Someone's birthday is coming up and they got a brand new pair of bright shoes. I think he's trying to beat me in the marathon with all his new gear. No, it's not Namath.

MS is fascinated with this. We walked ALL OVER one Sunday looking for it, and here we found it, when we weren't looking at all. Pretty deep implications there.

Finally, 5 blocks later, we arrived. Grizz had his toes crossed he was getting the Elvis cupcake - complete with bacon.

Birthday cake with fruity pebbles and captain crunch. No bacon.

Five blocks does him in. I laugh when people ask if he runs with us.

This was two hours later. Still exhausted. Maybe a little angry too.

I thought a two hour rest was enough that we could go to the park. By 'go' I mean drive the two blocks there and sit on a bench. But he was having none of it.

I think he knew I was the brain behind the operation, because he wouldn't take a picture with me to save his life.

Kids. They can be so ungrateful.
