Three Strikes You're Out

Last week, MS won a contest at his office to throw the first pitch at the company family night at the Barons.

Like any good wife, I let him warm up solo on the roof of the building while I fixed my hair.

We headed out and met his biggest fans, who thought he was playing the whole game.

I'm merely his publicist. Anytime Uncle Mac leaves, all I'm useful for is answering questions about where he is and when he's coming back. It's a glamorous job.

We ate some very questionable bbq and waited for MS to take the field.

He did great and got it across home plate - even if it was high and inside.

I mingled with the other celebrities.

After his big game, we made a stop for a celebratory drink and dinner that we could identify.

Great start to the weekend!

Fantastic Friday - Saving Cash Money

We had a great trip to Publix this week.

Spent: $57.63
Saved: $83.05

Store Coupons:$11.00
Vendor Coupons: $28.50
Sale Savings: $43.55

I'm really loving that a lot of healthier options have been on sale lately. A lot of people say you only get junk food when you coupon, but I don't think that's true.

We've done really well lately with keeping our weekly grocery budget between $50-$75. Which means more money for some splurges.

Anytime I can invest in something that makes me feel guilty for skipping runs while reminding me how slow I am, well, thats money well spent.

Hot and Spicy

We've been saying for approximately 13 years we were going to try the new Indian place down the street. Sunday, after some pool time, we decided to walk down and try it. (We live a rough life. You might have to drag me kicking and screaming out of downtown.)

MS said I looked like a crazy tourist taking all these pictures. This is the kind of treatment I get for capturing photo documentation of our date night.

Everything sounded good, but what do I know about Indian food? Probably about as much as Donald Trump knows about being president, but it's not slowing him down, so I pressed onward and ordered a chicken delicacy - chicken tandoori.

Is it dramatic to say it changed my life? Ok, then it was the best meal I've had in a long time.

It was everything I hoped for and more. Great tasting, spicy and not weird. I really have a distinguished pallet.

If you get a chance to try it, I don't think you'll be dissapointed.

Almost Wordless Wednesday - In Honor of Mrs. Smith

In honor of Mrs. Smith, who is currently in labor with a sweet baby boy, thought I would share these strawberries that I think were grown outside the Japanese nuclear plant.

Don't worry, Harrison. You can always come to our house to get strawberries if your Mom won't give you any.

Happy Birthday!

This Time Last Year

This time last year I was dreading our afternoon run. I'm really glad I went.

I was lucky to have a boyfriend who made the proposal special, a fiancee who helped with every detail of wedding planning down to stuffing and sealing invitations and now a husband who shows me he loves me every day.

It's been a fun year, and that calls for pasta and wine. Happy engagement anniversary, MS!

Practice

Saturday mornings race went splendidly - I love when a good training plan comes together. I have zero pictures, as I spent the first mile of the race trying to undress after quickly realizing 54 degrees and windy was too hot for long sleeves. Who knew. Luckily for everyone, I had a sleeveless shirt on underneath.

In case you were wondering all weekend, official results had me ahead of MS by a jillionth of a second. True story, he totally should have beaten me, but slowed down so we could cross together.

After MS collected another jewel in his heavenly crown, we headed down to Tuscaloosa for A-Day. Remember when no one went to A-Day because it was practice? Those days are behind us.

It's always good sense to practice stadium dog and yellowhammer consumption. True or false: We love these so much we served them at our wedding. (Hint:true) MS's dad got us some sweet seats. Nick was excited to see us. We do what we can. Also, I've decided Namath needs a houndstooth hat.

Fantastic Friday - Stairwell Edition

Supposedly there are storms a comin' to blow us all away. I did not envision ending this week crouched in the stairwell with all my co-workers.

I have a new appreciation for her bad mood. She probably just wanted to get home in time to watch Mad Men or Teen Mom: Unseen Moments. Sounds logical to me.

Luckily, the skies look sunny for tomorrows race.

I don't know who Ellis Porch is or why he enjoyed running hills so much, but I'm thankful I now have a name to curse tomorrow.

I kid. I'm looking forward to it. Last time we ran this race, there was some disagreement about who won.

And by disagreement, I mean the results clearly say I finished in 1:27:45.3, whereas MS was trailing at 1:27:45.6. How can you argue with that kind of blowout? Men.

Afterwards, I'm doing another race to see how fast I can get ready and get here.

Any race rewarded by stadium dogs and yellow hammers is fine by me.

Thank You for Being a Friend

Happy, happy birthday to my former roomie! I'm really sad we can't celebrate on the lanai. She's moved off to a new city - but wisely, stayed within the southeast. Smart girl. I've already booked my trip to visit and do some summer shopping. She is a great combo of levelheaded and responsible, but is also so much fun. Getting emails from her always make my day better, because they are hilarious. She has a great way of giving it to you straight while keeping a great sense of humor. I can remember several times emailing her for advice, near in tears upset about someone something, and her response always answered my question while making me laugh. She is a wonderful host - I think our Iron Bowl 2009 party is one for the books. Maybe we should have repeated it for better luck in 2010. I know whenever she throws a party, the food and drinks will be ah-mazing. I've blown my diet many times on her cooking and it was always worth it. She's an awesome aunt to her niece and nephews. They are so lucky to have fun Aunt L! She plans everything from campouts to outings to the zoo. She makes friends wherever she goes, so I know her new home will be just that - a home - very soon. But, she will be missed in Birmingham. Who is going to take the our family glamour shots now?!

She is such a gifted photographer and I can't wait to see where her skills take her. Hopefully taking pictures of her beach house in the not too distant future.

I remember at our rehearsal dinner, her speaking about how happy she is when good things happen to good people. I feel the same way about this move - such a good thing for someone who so deserves it.

I'm so excited for you as you start a new chapter in your life and hope this birthday was one you'll always remember!

Fun in the Sun

I've been crossing my fingers for spring to get here. I must be living right, because it was a warm 88 degrees Saturday and Sunday and I got to enjoy this view.

I cut my day short to pick MS up from the airport. Sacrifice is the foundation of a good marriage. Also, I needed someone to rub sunscreen on my back.

We immediately headed down further south for a wedding so I could show off my sunburn and attempt to bring back the windblown look.

After completing my lofty to do list on Friday, I went for my third gold star of the weekend and went to early church with MS on Sunday. It freed up the afternoon to do a little grooming.

Color him unimpressed and color me bright red. It almost makes me enjoy my shaded cube.

Fantastic Friday - Lofty Ambitions

It's been a long, rough week here in our little cube land, so we're breaking out early to enjoy the afternoon.

I can't imagine anything more enjoyable than a solo 10 miler with some long hills, followed by a trip to the grocery store. If I say it enough, maybe it will be true. I do like to eat and fit in my jeans, so time to pay the piper. Sometimes we have to do things we don't like.

Like watch the muscial episode of Grey's.

I laid out some essentials I dug out of the back of the junk drawer this morning. And by junk drawer, I mean treasure trove.

If you see a pasty blonde girl with superior energy running around today, feel free to offer me some water. Seriously. It's hot out there.

I plan on rewarding my efforts tomorrow.

How lucky was I to find a picture of our apartment pool via google images? It must be my day.
