Yes, that's a 12 inch dinner plate.

Just in time for a 4 hour drive to run 4.5 hours. The irony was not lost on me.
If you plan on driving down corridor x anytime soon, take some snacks and a catheter. It is desolate. And I'm confused, is this highway ever going to get a name?

Race Guide -check.
Gatorade - check.

It was a weird feeling heading to the full marathon line. I always look that way and pity those people.
Race bag in hand! Am I sweaty or is that just the lighting? I'll leave you to wonder. Are you glad you're reading this post yet?

We checked into our hotel and changed for dinner. In case you have been wondering what Jesse Spano is doing these days, she's managing the Hilton in Germantown. Check out that rad neon lighting!
We had some time to kill before our reservations, so we had a drink at the bar. And one at the restaurant. Someone strip me of my asics. Scandalous!Oh, don't you worry. I will.

I think I trained better in the art of carb loading than actually running. You don't think it's an art? Fine. No home cooked spaghetti for you.

After a run to Target for some throwaway gloves, I meticulously laid out my outfit for the next day. The fact that I got an even number thrilled me. I don't like odd numbers - even down to the volume number on the TV or the thermostat setting in my car.

Seriously? Seriously.
They weren't the prettiest rolls, but man were they good. If you've ever made these, you know the original recipe makes tons. Like seven pans. If you have the space in your freezer, that's great, but since we don't, I used
I also couldn't find maple flavoring for the icing, so I used vanilla instead. We had no trouble eating them.
The only thing I would change would be to use less sugar sprinkled on the dough. It was a LOT of sugar. I think I angered my pancreas, among other organs.

I've heard great things about Bare Escentuals. Does it live up to the hype? It gets rave reviews, but any makeup with a DVD instructional video might be too complex for me.
MS was kind enough to handle the chicken nastiness.
I intended to take pictures of all the steps.

At some point last week, all 4 of my brain cells started working at the same time, and it occurred to me to look up the marathon on facebook. Found all kinds of helpful information I had looked everywhere for- (well, clearly not everywhere) like the flavors of Gu provided on the course. This may seem trivial, until you try something new on race day and are actually wanting to find a port a potty. Everything must be the same. Don't change anything.
That's about as far as my brain took me this week, since the following happened Friday:
Things weren't too bad the first half of the run. The scenery was unreal, as was the real estate. I would have snapped some pictures to share, but I thought taking pictures of people's houses I don't know is probably borderline creepy.
A little torture at mile 12.
Saw this bat at our second gatorade stop. I remembered from somewhere someone using a champagne bottle as a foam roller, so I thought, why not a plastic bat? Felt nice on the quads.
Things turned dark (literally and figuratively) around mile 15-16. I went from taking it 3 miles a time to 2, and then towards the end, even the tenths of miles seem to be taking AGES. I thought my watch was broken the numbers were turning over so slow. It was our longest run, it was our slowest run - but we finished.
