8 Weeks

How far along? 8 weeks. Baby is the size of a kidney bean. Last week was raspberry, which I'm pretty sure is bigger, but I'm no baby development/fruit/vegetable sizing expert. Sunburst has webbed fingers and toes. Eyelids are covering babies eyes.

Total weight gain: Not letting myself go to this dark place yet.

Maternity Clothes: Only if browsing to see my options counts.

Stretch Marks: Haha...nope.

Sleep: Elusive. Nothing a little Benadryl can't fix.

Best Moment this Week: Telling both of our families. So fun to see other people get as excited about Sunburst as we are!

Miss anything? Let's just permantely put wine in this spot. Also, hair highlighting.

Movement: Nope - unless you count me moving to the bathroom 92 times per day.

Food Cravings: Cereal. Currently stocked up on Grape Nuts (actually the off brand - "Nutty Nuts") Honey Bunches of Oats with Almonds and Raisin Bran. Worked hard to resist the Fruity Pebbles.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Being awake. Yet oddly, I'm yet to miss a meal. I figured out early on I feel a lot worse when I don't eat, so I just eat whatever sounds good. Too bad that's the #60 at Amigos and Chick Fil A. MS may get fruit instead of fries, but not this girl.

Exercise:When I called the doctor's office after finding out, they wanted me to take it easy until my first appointment - like, run no more than a quarter mile. I took that to mean a quarter mile at a time, and the wog (walk/jog) was born. When they found the subchrionic hematoma at my 6 week checkup, I was told no exercise until 8 weeks Long story, I'm just now getting back into it.

Gender: A few more months until that cat is out of the bag.

Labor signs: Well, it's in the future. Just not the near future.

Symptoms: Nausea. Frequent bathroom trips. I'm nothing if not a cliche.

Belly Button in or out: In.

Most looking forward to: 8 week apointment and ultrasound on Wednesday - getting to see the heartbeat again. Always makes me breathe easier. Hoping we get good news about the hematoma - that it's all gone!

What's Been Going On

We feel so blessed to share Baby S is due in February!

Namath is not impressed. We hope he'll come around.

Closet Project

After browsing through Life in the Green House's closet organization, I was inspired. Well, inspired enough to move some junk from our closet to the upstairs guest closet, and do one little project. That's inspired in my book.

I loved the idea of being able to see all my earrings, necklaces and bracelets in one place. So, off I went to the thrift store for my first bit of supplies.

Meow. Don't be jealous. I think the lady thought I was nuts when I dragged this to the checkout line.

 The cat print went in the garbage. So what was left was this nice gold frame.

 Perfect for striking a pose.

 After much deliberation in the aisle of Hobby Lobby, I settled on Blue Ocean Breeze. It's exceptionally smooth and durable! Or so says the can.

 After attaching some chicken wire with a staple gun, which was much more difficult than I thought it would be, voila....

I think it turned out nicely for what it is - and now I have a special spot for my "Saban is Sexy" pin. All's well that ends well.

MIA

There has been a lack of blogging. Mainly because there has been a lack of things to blog about.

We've hosted two showers in the past 8 days, so there's been a lot of vacuuming of the fur.

MS was out of town for work for a week, so there was a lot of watching of the Lifetime and Netflix. Specifically season 3 of Private Practice. Which led to wondering why I can't dress more like Addison Montgomery. Sigh. Also, gratefulness that she's not my ob/gyn, because...how. depressing.

Lest we not beat this dead horse - the ROYAL BABY. I've been on front row watch and am nothing short of obsessed with all things Kate, William and nameless babe. The blue polka dot dress? The rolled up sleeves on the blue button up? Will driving the Range Rover himself? I tip my hat to their stylist and publicist. Well played.

We love the royal family around here.

And this English Bulldog was proud of the motherland this week.

I think that about catches us up.

Five on Friday

Because all the cool kids are doing it and it's rained non-stop so I have nothing else to blog about.

We'll call this the TV edition, because that's what you do while waiting out the flood of 2013.

1. Dexter

I'll lead with my favorite. I know, no suspense. But it is OH SO GOOD this season. Between the creepy new character and Deborah going off the rails, Sunday night has lost most of its ability to induce me into a funk.

2. Parenthood

We finally finished catching up and it just got better with each season. My calendar is marked for the return on September 26. What? You don't mark the first week of Fall TV on your calendar? Shame.


3. Scandal

 
I know I'm the last one to RSVP to the Olivia Pope party, but we mowed through season one this week and are starting season two. I could go without her overdramatic one liners and rants, but the story lines keep me coming back. Gladiators in suits.

4. Kenra Blow Dry Spray

In an effort to mimic my hairdressers exact routine, I ordered some of this after my last visit. Not only does it smell like coconut, which is reason enough to buy it, it makes your hair oh so soft and cuts the blow dry time, so you can spend more time watching Dexter, Scandal and Parenthood. You're most welcome.

Proof that all this indoor TV watching is getting to some members of the household....

5. Namath and the Snakes

 We often say the snakes are out when Namath is acting extra, well, nuts. I don't know if it's all the rain that has brought those snakes in his head out, but he's been a mess this week. Having fits over inantimate objects that have been in the same spots for weeks/months.

We did have some good snuggle time in the apocalyptic storm that hit Wednesday. 

 He also likes to shut himself in the guest bathroom for privacy. This was Matt's attempt to carry him back to being part of the family. This was my poor attempt at capturing it with a horrible iPhone photo.

Snakes or not, I'm glad he's riding out the flood with us.

This About Sums It Up

 It rained alllll the long holiday weekend. The most exciting thing we did was a trip to Costco.

Lemon Squares from Cafe Iz. I'm not a big lemon fan, but these won my heart. They were light on the lemon taste and very chess bar like. And I could do an entire post on my love for chess bars - an ode to cake mix and cream cheese. Namath wanted a sample. HA.

Hey, it was a holiday weekend. The blueberry cake doughnut won my heart. I might be back for the maple bacon.

I hate this dog can't get comfortable.

Lazy Weekend

Sometimes you just need a weekend with no plans except what you feel like doing that exact moment. This weekend was just that.

We felt like going to the pool early, and got the place to ourselves.

After a trip to Costco, me and the Grizz felt like we needed to rest our eyes while MS went clothes shopping, since none of his fit anymore, thanks to My Fitness Pal.

You've never met a better nap buddy. Unless you count the mulitiple bathroom and water breaks he requires. So, there isn't much napping on my end.

We had a good session with the Furminator. Me and the vaccuum are fighting a losing battle. This was my attempt to wage a little war - Namath found it exhilirating.

We felt like a little Mexican Date Night at our local Mexican joint. We scraped that cheese dip bowl clean.

We had big plans to watch last season's finale of Dexter to get ready for last night's premiere, but were unsuccessful in finding on Netflix or Hulu Plus. Or watching last night's premiere. That's why they make Monday nights, right?
